5AM is a small group of artist makers who are collaborating to develop their practice and explore different materials. Together, they research and develop new ideas, increase their profile and access new markets. This is an initiative instigated by Hampshire County Council’s Arts Office under the mentorship of Mark Segal (former Director of Artsway).
The group visited Mottisfont in 2011 and spent time exploring the rich history of the house, gardens and in particular the River Test which flows through the grounds. It was here that Frederic Halford perfected the art of dry fly fishing in the late 19th century.
Using the theme of the rural idyll, 5AM commissioned Philip Hoare to write a piece that drew their ideas together. This has inspired the artists further, and underpins 5AM’s fly fishing project for Mottisfont. Copies are available to read nearby.
All five pieces are for sale – please make a note of the artist and visit the shop to make your payment. Pieces can be collected from 17 September, after the exhibition has closed.
